Otto Wagner's 1906 design of the Postparkasse Bentwood Armchair (Upholstered) is an extreme shape synthesis. Minimalism, exclusivity and an eye for detail.  The Postparkasse series was designed for the headquarters of the Post Office Savings Bank in Vienna, Austria. It represents a clear expression of modern Viennese art.  The solid bentwood beechwood structure is both embracing and ergonomic.  This item introduced a new concept to the Postparkasse series - the use of wood with a square, not round cross-section, to create a more rigorous design.  The complete range includes an armchair, chair, stool, and bookshelf.
